30 Days of Shades: Day 13 Plum Smokey

16 Feb
I was so excited to do my makeup today because I finally got to try some Mally Beauty products! My friends Mandy and Becca came over yesterday to play in the makeup with me. (I totally demand a redo though! I wanted to take pics of their eyeshadows once I was finished with them, and forgot!! So, we have to do it again!) I had so much fun…and Becca brought some Mally products over to give to me! She gave me a mascara, a “Bullet-proof” eyeliner, and an eyeshadow duo.
I am still in my Smokey Mode, so I decided that a plum smokey look was what I was going to go for today.
I also used a different foundation–Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + in Porcelain (I think. It’s the lightest color they make). I usually use my bare Minerals foundation powder, but I wanted more coverage since I was trying out the new eyeshadow look. I wanted it all to be perfect!

I actually layered these plum shades from Mally over my M.A.C. Constructivist paint pot. I wanted it to be a deeper color, so I wanted to use that as a base.
Here are the products from Mally..aren’t they gorgeous?! I can say, I absolutely LOVE this stuff! Especially the mascara so far! πŸ™‚ I have to wear the eyeshadow and eyeliner and everything all day to see how I really feel about it. So far, my initial reaction is that I am a BIG fan of this stuff! I just want to wear it all day long to see if it really is “Bullet-Proof” and see if it wears all day long without smudging, or running, etc.

You can definitly see the intensity of the colors after applying over a paint pot.
I was also actually surprised that the colors came off more brown than purple
by themselves.
In the tin, they look really purple and scary, but when you apply them, they
are very wearable.
You sure you want me to keep this Bec?? They are FABULOUS!

Here are the two Mally plum shade swatches. The first two are layered over the contructivist paint pot, and the second two are just the eyeshadows on their own.

30 Days of Shades: Day 12 Simple Smokey Eyes

16 Feb
Here is the picture that inspired my eyeshadow for today. Now, I did not go near as dark or intense as this because I wasn’t going to the MTV Movie Awards—I was taking my kids to Mother’s Day Out. So I figured I should probably dial it down a bit. πŸ™‚

I had to get up around 4 this morning to work, after only a few hours of sleep, but I still made a video! (Learning how to operate my HD camera is on my To Do list, I promise!)

30 Days of Shades: Day 11 Gold & Navy

15 Feb

Okay, here is my new lipstick! Isn’t it gorgeous?! I love it, love it, love it! πŸ™‚

And now back to the 30 Days of Shades–Today, I used gold and navy. I decided to go with these colors because my friend, Katy asked me what color would be good for a blue-eyed girl. Well, this is one that she could pull off! πŸ™‚

Here are the palettes I used: Urban Decay Naked & Bed Head & Jillian Dempsy Twice the Spice pencil.
When I use navy, I usually try to go very subtle with it–just enough to brighten up your eyes!
I used Half-Baked on the first half of my eyelid, and Smog on the outer half of my eyelid. Naked for the crease, and Virgin for the highlight. For the outer V, I used the blue from my Bed Head palette. It is called Navy. (Bed Head doesn’t play around with frilly names.) I used my Jillian Dempsey lip pencil from Avon. It is called Twice the Spice. It actually has a shadow stick on one side that is gold, and it would be great for this look too. (Hey, if Patrick Dempsey likes it, then we must try it, right??) I lined my eyes with Urban Decay’s Ransom, which is a blue liner. Notice what a difference a groomed brow can make?

And here is an ungroomed brow. πŸ™‚ My sister came over today for me to do her eyeshadow, and I thought the colors looked great, but she needed a brow wax in a bad way. I preach and preach on this, but no one listens. Seriously, WAX YOUR BROWS!

She has awesome eyelashes though, and you will be happy to know that she did go to get her eyebrows done today! Thank You Jesus!!! πŸ™‚ We used the 120 Palette to do her shadow.

Just remember: Wax… or people see this. (LOVE YOU HEATHER!)

30 Days of Shades: Day 10 Naked

14 Feb

This is probably one of my favorite ways to wear my eyeshadow. It’s a completely natural look using Urban Decay’s Naked palette, which is my favorite, if you have not figured that out by now.
I have used it before for one of my 30 Days of Shades, but a different combination. It is a palette with 12 different neutral, wearable shades in it. Usually, I reach for the shimmery/glittery shades, but today, I used the two matte shades: Naked and Buck. I used Naked for my lid, and Buck for the crease. I of course highlighted with Virgin, and I used Dark Horse as the outer V shade.

I am telling you, if you don’t buy any other eyeshadow palettes besides this one, you would be set! I stalked this palette for forever! It was SOLD OUT for a really long time, and every time I went to Ulta or Sephora, I would check to see if they had one in stock. I even looked online! Nothing! Until one day–the stars aligned, a ray of of light came down from Heaven to shine on this palette, and the angels started singing. I snapped it up and headed straight to the check-out counter!
I have heard since then that they are actually trying hard to meet the demand for these, so if you can get your hands on one, don’t hesitate! (It also comes with a double-ended eyeliner and eyeshadow primer.)

You just can’t go wrong with this look, in my opinion. Great for every day, and for every eye color!
(And just so you all know. I am going to come up with a Katy Perry glitter look. I love that girl’s eyeshadow. It’s freakin’ fabulous.)

30 Days of Shades: Day 9 Rainbow Brite

12 Feb

Being a child of the 80’s, I remember playing with a Rainbow Brite doll. Rainbow just vanished off the scene. I can’t remember why.. some kind of controversy? I don’t know. Either way, I like all of the colors. And since I got the 120 palette… well, you guessed it!

I couldn’t decide on one color, so I decided on all of the colors. πŸ™‚ The key is just to really blend the colors together to kind of make a gradient effect.

Here is my Rainbow Brite inspired look.

I really don’t remember every color that I used, but I can tell you that every color I picked was in the 120 palette. It’s an awesome palette. I am so impressed with these colors! I have purchased palettes before that can contain lots and lots of colors, and I have been totally been disappointed. HOWEVER, this is the coolest palette, and I am so happy with the color payoff from this. Have I said that before?? Well, I mean it! πŸ™‚

30 Days of Shades: Day 8- NEW 120 Palette

11 Feb

My fabulous sister bought me a new eyeshadow palette! It is the 1st edition 120 Palette from BH Cosmetics.

(Yes, I colored my hair black yesterday. Don’t worry, it will fade to dark brown shortly. I color it this dark so that it lasts longer in between hair colors.)

I was planning on doing something with blue or green eyeshadow, but I cannot resist this pretty pink/purple look. Especially since we are so close to Valentine’s Day, and these colors make me think of Valentine’s! πŸ˜‰

My sister also bought me this 66 color lip palette(Left), in addition to the 120 palette (Right).

I used the colors from this tray. There are some really pretty shimmery AND matte shades. Love it. AND the color payoff is good! WOOHOO! πŸ™‚ I hate eyeshadow that doesn’t actually turn out the color that it looks in the pan, but these do!

This is the second tray in the palette–blue, yellows, and greens mostly.

And here is the lip palette. I used a bright pink shade today. (3rd row from the top, 1st pink shade in that row.) There are some crazy shades in here. BLUE? I have no idea when I am ever going to need to use that one, but if the need arises, well, I am prepared!

I can’t wait to play with more of these eyeshadows. It makes me wish I had more than two eyes!
